Our Mason Quartz Collection

Mason Quartz Evolved Colour Range

When the earth's tectonic plates collide and crash together over the millennia some of the most precious and beautiful stone is formed.  One stone that is created under this heat and pressure is quartzite, which is sandstone and quartz crushed together.  From Brazil we get a creamy white and grey quartzite called Taj Mahal and this is the primary influence for our engineered quartz surface.

One of the fascinating features of quartzite is the iron oxide colour that appears in veins and our design team wanted to create a fusion of the natural quartzite grey background, with the iron oxide colouring running across our Mason Quartz surface.

We added our own twist to the pattern by introducing a dappled effect as if the surface has been weathered by rain for centuries, with miniature voids appearing in the rust colour to reveal the grey background.

We have sought to reproduce the look and feel of the Brazilian granite Bianco Riviera.  This colour is a beautiful fusion of slate blue greys with those extraordinary hints of orange found in the natural granite swirling around in a sea of light grey tones. There are even tiny shiny speckles twinkling in the waves moving across this quartz surface. This is quartz colour is ideal for both kitchen worktops or a bathroom setting.

Quartz is a perfect material for any counter-top in both a residential or commercial setting. It is strong, durable and very low maintenance and at Mason Quartz we offer a 25 Year Limited Warranty.

Lush and appealing, the dark and glossy finish of Vesuvius is an ornament to any home. The silky smooth surface of Vesuvius combines the sophisticated look of glossy granite with the practicality of Mason Quartz.

Our design team sourced their inspiration for this colour from Mount Vesuvius near Naples in Italy. This volcano is best known for erupting in AD 79 and covering the ancient Roman cities of Pompeii, Herculaneum, Opiontis and Stabiae. Centuries later this allowed archaeologists to uncover these cities and reveal the tastes and interior designs that flourished in Roman society.

We looked carefully at the beautiful greys in volcanic ash and visualised these in a quartz surface.  Vesuvius is the result and is part of Mason Quartz's Evolved range and is suitable for both a domestic setting or a commercial interior.

The inspiration for this design and colour comes from the weathered stone walls of the walled garden at Ashford Castle at Cong, County Mayo, Ireland.  As stone experts, we always strive to develop natural colours taken from our surroundings and there is an adundance of karst landscapes in this beautiful green island.

This type of landscape is formed when water dissolves and erodes soft rock like limestone and leaves behind fascinating natural wonders like the Ailwee Cave at Ballycahill, Ballyvaughan, County Clare and the tall, steep rock faces of the cliffs of Moher near Lahinch, County Clare.

The rock itself may be worn away from the surface by rainwater, or it may be eroded from the inside.  This interaction between stone and rain creates unique patterns and Ashford Grey is our understanding of this natural process brought into a quartz surface for your kitchen worktop.

The Ancient Romans were among the most formidable architects and engineers of all time and their buildings remain standing to this day.  They sourced strong durable materials like marble quarried from Carrara.  At Mason Quartz, we have a mission to continue this tradition of creating long lasting and timeless quartz surfaces in the same vein as the builders of the Pantheon in Rome.  This temple has stood in the heart of this city since 126 AD and is adorned with the beautiful blue grey and white slabs of Carrara marble.

Our design team felt a deep need to produce a quartz surface that mirrors this famous classical marble, with thin and thick veins on a white and blue-grey background.  The result is a perfect worktop surface for any kitchen or bathroom.  This colour is also suitable for commercial restaurants settings and will stand the test of time in terms of both design and material.

If the Ancient Romans had the technology to engineer quartz, they would have used it.  A quartz surface has huge advantages from low maintenance to high flexural strength.

Once again, we look to Italy for our inspiration and the great marble quarries at Carrara.  Both Calacatta and Carrara marble is quarried in the same region and this leads to some confusion among the various marble types.  At Mason Quartz, we wanted to develop a set of Calacatta variations, with heavy non-linear patterns covering our slabs.

All our Calacatta Bold quartz has a timeless classic look and is ideal for residential and commercial worktops and our engineers have made our quartz feel like marble and a quartz worktop has many advantages over its marble counterpart.

Quartz is among the hardest and most resistant naturally occurring materials on earth.  Our quartz has a vibrancy and colour intensity second to none and it requires no special maintenance other than a soft cloth and non-abrasive cleaning agent to keep it in perfect condition for many years to come.

Since Ancient Roman times the quarries in the Carrara region have been providing the most elegant and distinguished marbles.  Among the most notable marble types is Calacatta famed for the rich heavy veins coursing across a pure white background. And here is a version of those famous stones transformed into a timeless quartz worktop, ideal for kitchens, bathrooms, restaurant countertops and many other commercial applications. Our designers have worked hard to make our quartz look and feel like marble, yet quartz is much more versatile, easy to maintain, resistant to stains and has great flexural strength, the perfect union of natural materials and synthetic polymers.

By choosing a Mason Quartz worktop you can transform your kitchen or bathroom into a unique and exclusive environment like the Ancient Roman domiciles, that are still visible today across the Italian peninsula.

Imagine a spectacular Ancient Roman mansion adorned with Calacatta marble covering floors, walls and furniture, quarried from the Carrara region.  Now imagine your kitchen or bathroom covered in a perfect replica of Calacatta, but with a superior, more durable, easier to maintain quartz version.  This is the joy of quartz, an engineered stone created from one of the most abundant natural materials on the earth and high tech polymers.  Our designers have developed a product that not only looks like marble but also has the feel and texture of this luxurious stone.

Calacatta Gold allows you to produce a kitchen or bathroom that stands out for its exclusivity while maintaining the practical nature of these rooms.  Quartz is among the hardest and most resistant materials available even when compared to granite or marble.  Our quartz has a high colour intensity, an extraordinary brightness and the surface is suitable for daily cleaning with a soft cloth and non-abrasive cleaning agent to keep it stain-free.

These attributes make quartz an ideal surface for kitchen worktops, restaurant countertops, bathroom shower units, covered baths or office reception desks.

Statuario is one the most precious marble varieties found in Italy and is the primary source of inspiration for our Mason Quartz version of Statuario. We have replicated the distinctive grey, almost black veining that mirrors a meandering riverbed running diagonally across the slab and then criss-crossing to connect the main veins.

It is a luxurious pattern and is a perfect fit for both kitchen worktops, backsplashes or in a bathroom setting.

This colour is part of the Evolved Range and is an alternative to our Calacatta Bold, Calacatta Classic, Calacatta Gold and Carrara Classic.  The main difference is that the veins have an ink blot quality where the dark grey colours seeps into the light grey background.

Slane is the home of Mason Quartz and passing the castle on a regular basis encouraged our designers to look at the beautiful quarried limestone for inspiration.  The exterior walls are constructed of roughly coursed limestone with finely dressed quoins. These cornerstones are both decorative and structural, since they differ in jointing, colour, texture and size from the masonry of the adjoining walls.  For over two centuries the castle walls have been weathered by the Irish rain and this has created a unique colour and texture on the stonework.

Our Mason Quartz Castle Grey colour is created to imitate this colour and texture, particularly the leather finish version.

Each year there is an international stone show Marmomac held in the Italian city of Verona, which we here at Mason Quartz attend.  Verona is of course made famous by Shakespeare's play 'Romeo and Juliet' set in this picturesque medieval location.  Our Mason quartz design team felt that it would be appropriate to have one of our classic quartz surfaces named after this idyllic Italian place.

Combined with this celebration of the importance of Verona, we decided that we needed to introduce a marble type quartz into the Natural Range.  Our Verona quartz is inspired by a fusion of a white marble background with speckles of champagne, light and dark grains that appear naturally in granite.

Since our engineered quartz is non-porous and very easy to keep clean, Pure White is an excellent choice without having to be concerned about spending time on maintenance.  Our quartz has a 25-year limited warranty and is scratch resistant.

The natural world provides an abundance of inspiration and we feel that looking at the granite and marble from around the world gives us a great insight into beautiful and timeless designs for our Mason Quartz surfaces.

One of our favourite granites is the famous Chinese crystal black granite and we wanted to try and improve on nature by including mirrored flecks in among the deep black grains in our quartz version.

A black quartz surface works well in a space that has an abundance of natural light and with cream or off-white coloured panelling.

One consideration regarding black quartz is that a recessed drainer will have a slightly greyer tone than the surrounding quartz surface, so we recommend only adding the normal flutes when using this colour as a worktop around a sink area.

Pearl White is one of the most classic and timeless colours in our Mason Quartz Primal Range.  It has subtle grains of beige blending onto a pearl white background.

This colour works very well with light grey to dark grey cabinet panelling.

Since our engineered quartz is a non-porous surface, it is very low maintenance and keeping a light colour looking perfect for years only takes a daily clean with a non-abrasive anti-bacterial spray.  We are delighted to be able to offer a 25-year limited liability warranty to give you peace of mind for years to come.

At Mason Quartz, we strive to create quartz surfaces that are based and influenced by natural granite and marble.  The crystal range of quartz in our Primal Range have a strong relationship to the Brazilian granite of the same name.

Our Crystal White has mirrored flecks and translucent grains on a light cream background.  The mirrored flecks reflect the surrounding light, and this gives an effect of light greenish grey shards carefully compacted into this quartz surface.

This type of surface is something that happens in the natural world when sandstone is cemented to quartzite through heating and pressure usually related to tectonic compression as the earth's plates crash and collide together. The individual quartz grains recrystallize along with the former cementing material to form an interlocking mosaic of quartz crystals. The grainy, sandpaper-like surface becomes glassy in appearance and this is the effect that we wish to achieve with our crystal range of colours.

This colour works well with off-white to dark grey panelling on your kitchen worktops and is an ideal surface for bathroom settings.
